Earlier this year, EMPHATICaL, represented by the consortium partner Swerim, participated in the INCITE Workshop – a key European forum for shaping the future of industrial emissions reduction.
Held in Seville and online, the workshop brought together innovators, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to assess maturing technologies that are ready to play a role in the upcoming revision of the Iron and Steel BREF (Best available technique REFerence document).
In an online presentation, Malin Blomqvist, Research engineer at Swerim, introduced EMPHATICaL as the successor to the CaLby2030 project, highlighting how calcium looping (CaL) technology is advancing to TRL 7, an important step towards industrial deployment for carbon capture.
Organised by the European Commission’s Innovation Centre for Industrial Transformation and Emissions (INCITE), the event aimed to align the EU’s regulatory framework with emerging innovations that could reshape Europe's industrial landscape.
