One Year of EMPHATICaL

In November, the 17 partners of the EMPHATICaL project came together to mark the first anniversary of our journey at the Instituto de Ciencia y Tecnología del Carbono (INCAR-CSIC) in Oviedo, kindly hosted by our partner CSIC.

The two-day consortium meeting was packed with updates, progress reports, and exciting plans for the next semester. Highlights from the meeting:

• Day 1 kicked off with a warm welcome from the project coordinator and our hosts at INCAR-CSIC, followed by presentations on exploitation & business plans, design & engineering, and CO₂ purification and methanol production. The day ended with a joint dinner to continue the conversations in a more informal setting.

• Day 2 focused on integrated process design, renewable energy integration, industrial symbiosis, CO₂ transport & storage, AI-based operation management, and circularity assessment. In the afternoon, partners got to know more about A.SPIRE, explored communication strategies and project management, finishing with an inspiring visit to INCAR-CSIC's CASOH pilot plant.

A big thank you to CSIC for hosting and to all partners for a productive and inspiring first-year milestone.
