The EMPHATICaL consortium gathered in Milan, Italy, (22-23 May) for a productive two-day General Assembly meeting marking the project’s six-month milestone.
Hosted by our partner Politecnico di Milano, the consortium gathered from across Europe to share insights, align on progress, and advance innovation towards EMPHATICaL’s goal to meet 2050 climate goals by enabling industries to transition to net-zero and carbon circularity.
Key Highlights
Day 1:
🟠 A warm welcome from our project coordinator TNO, and host Politecnico di Milano.
🟠 Partners shared updates on design engineering and construction, focusing on key areas like Calcium Looping (CaL), CO₂ purification, NOx behaviour modelling, and methanol production and purification.
🟠 An interactive workshop on exploitation and business planning initiated great discussions on scaling impact.🟠 We also reviewed performance evaluation criteria and explored integrated process design.
🟠 The day wrapped with a presentation on EMPHATICaL’s circularity assessment and an insightful visit to Politecnico di Milano's labs.
Day 2:
🟠 We were joined by Ruby Roberg, an external speaker from Delft University of Technology, who presented a quantitative decision matrix for pre-screening energy-efficient intensified distillation technologies.
🟠 We reviewed communication, dissemination, and project management progress, shaping our strategy for stronger outreach and coordination.
A big thank you to all partners for your contributions, collaboration, and continued dedication. The EMPHATICaL consortium looks forward to continued progress and collaboration as we work toward solutions for a more sustainable, low-carbon future!
