Our Partner: CIRCE
Today, we spotlight Fundación CIRCE – Centro de Investigación de Recursos y Consumos Energéticos, a Spanish technological centre specialising in energy efficiency, renewable resources, hydrogen, artificial intelligence, mobility, and circular economy solutions. CIRCE develops advanced technological solutions to support the energy transition and sustainable industrial systems.
CIRCE's Role in EMPHATICaL
In EMPHATICaL, CIRCE acts as a knowledge provider, leading the work on AI modelling and techno-economic analysis to optimise the integration of renewable energy into the EMPHATICaL system. Their work focuses on modelling the impact of intermittent renewable power on alkaline electrolysers and hydrogen production, analysing interactions with electricity markets and potential on-site renewable generation. CIRCE also develops AI-based controllers to optimise system operation, while building long-term electricity market models and deep learning tools to predict methanol prices. These activities support the calculation of techno-economic KPIs, sustainability assessments, and pre-FEED studies for first-of-a-kind plants and future business cases.
