One Year of Innovation: Highlights from the EMPHATICaL February 2026 Newsletter
The latest edition of the EMPHATICaL newsletter marks a major milestone for the project, celebrating its first anniversary and showcasing a year of progress in sustainable metallurgy and chemical engineering.
Key Project Milestones
- Celebrating One Year: In November 2025, the project partners gathered at the Instituto de Ciencia y Tecnología del Carbono (INCAR-CSIC) in Oviedo to reflect on the first year of their journey toward industrial decarbonisation.
- Visualising the Future: The project released a new Concept Infographic, illustrating the integration of Calcium Looping (CaL) and Closed Loop Heat Pump Assisted Distillation (CL-HPAD).
- European Visibility: EMPHATICaL was prominently featured on the A.SPIRE website and its newsletter, highlighting its role within the Processes4Planet partnership.
Industry Engagement & Events
The consortium has been active across the European scientific community, participating in the Netherlands Process Technology Symposium (NPS20) and the INCITE Workshop, a key forum for shaping future industrial emissions reduction.
Looking ahead, the project will be represented at several major upcoming events:
- 10th High Temperature Solid Looping Cycles Network Meeting (March 2026)
- ESCAPE36 (June 2026)
- GHGT-18 Conference (October 2026)
Spotlight on Partners
The February edition also shines a light on the diverse expertise of its consortium, featuring spotlights on TNO (Dutch research), CA.RE.FOR. Engineering (sustainability consultanc), and Bright Renewables (methanol production technology).
